Buying and Retaining Academic Interest Now (BRAIN)
The BRAIN Program is a program of the Cuyahoga Land Bank to provide homeownership opportunities to current and recent college graduates. It is a response to the need to attract and retain graduates in the Cleveland area. Through incentivizing graduates from some of the top-notch schools in Northeastern Ohio, the Land Bank seeks to provide graduates with an opportunity to both seek a career locally and fulfill the American dream of homeownership.
The Cuyahoga Land Bank is offering affordable homeownership options to eligible students who are preparing to graduate or have recently graduated. The program offers renovated homes to students in select cities within the county, offering discounts up to 20%. Both immediate purchase and lease purchase options are available.Qualifying individuals will be evaluated on the following criteria:
- current enrollment in a college or post graduate degree program OR application submitted within 2 years following graduation;
- employment history;
- credit score;
- recent bankruptcies and/or foreclosures;
- payment of down payment;
- agreement to live in home for minimum of 3 years.

Buyers can expect quality renovations from the Land Bank. Renovations are completed in accordance with the Land Bank Housing Quality Standards as well as city codes. All work is performed by licensed contractors. Featured communities include Cleveland, Cleveland Heights, Euclid, South Euclid, Garfield Heights, and Bedford.
